Our global world is in a peculiar state. Young and old walk with masks on their faces, sanitise their hands constantly, and restrain from making physical contact. What might have seemed strange in early 2020, is now worldwide the norm.

We were born for such a time as this.

Surely, as Christians we need to be very attentive in such unusual circumstances. It cannot be life as usual for us. We must understand the Biblical truth that Mordecai commanded Esther with: “Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

We know that through Jesus Christ we were “made anew” for a very specific task that God has pre-planned for us, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Eph. 2:10). Nothing in a Christian’s life is random. Each of our days pre-exists in the knowledge and will of God even before it comes into being (refer to Ps. 139:16; Isaiah 22:11; Isaiah 37:26).

How then, should we as Christians, act in these times? Maybe we should prompt each other to stand upright, with our shoes on our feet, and our staff in our hand and

  • Humbly consecrate ourselves before God: “Search me o Lord …”
  • Carefully discern what His will is: “Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths; Lead me in Your truth and teach me.” (Ps. 25:4)
  • Allow the Holy Spirit to motivate us and make us able to perform His perfect will in our world. “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfil his good purpose” (Philippians 2:13)
  • Pray for the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ so that all over the world they will be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to advance his Kingdom …

… and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

May you be sanctified in His truth and be the light in this dark world – exactly as He has predestined for you to be.
